I believe my family came from France. We have heard the Lanpheres were Protestants and left France after the massacre by Catholics in the early 1600’s. We have heard the family spent some time in Belgium, Holland, and England before coming to the U.S. in the 1790’s.
I’ve been told that the first boy born in this country was named George Washington Lanphere. The family farmed and gradually moved west to Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, and North Dakota. My grandfather and his family came by rail in 1910 to Withrow, Washington which is near Wenatchee. The family farmed there. My father in 1921 was a member of the Ku Klux Klan which was a social club in Withrow.

Hi I am a lanpher having extensively researched and spent time in George lanpheres homestead town he immigrated to in his 20s. So much you have been told is inaccurate from my findings. I did write a book called FROM WHICH I CAME which is a historical fiction based on my ancestors. But in gathering data for my book I also was interested in getting the facts where ever possible
