Iris, misses her family

Iris
I Am Poem
I am from El salvador and I am a teenager.
I wonder why the boys like to play Football.
I hear music in my head.
I see that my family is together.
I want my family to be all together.
I am from El salvador and I am a teenager.
I pretend to be happy.
I feel sad when I am alone.
I touch my gorgeous, long hair.
I worry when my friends are sad.
I cry when they break my heart.
I am from El salvador and I am a teenager.
I understand the feelings of others.
I say what I think.
I dream about happiness.
I try to be happy.
I hope my family joins me.
I am from El salvador and I am a teenager.

Iris is an immigrant high school student, learning English, in a small town in North Carolina.
